In one of your videos you stated that some of this stuff that you were talking about you had to come up with English names for it can I ask why

I do know that a lot of the tools come from Germany

Sep 1 at 1:59 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

The reason we are coming up with terms In English; I’m the first one to do it, and write about it, and record it in English. I had my own internal vocabulary which I had to standardize to be able to explain it to others. I reverse engineered the trade. There is really nobody training In the states.

If you like what you’re reading please make a donation thru the PayPal link on the website! As far as why I’m “homeless” it’s a requirement of the trade to be a journeyman (a nomadic builder without a home) for 10 years to get to next level. I’m putting myself thru medieval training the same way they would have in the old country

Sep 1 at 5:55 PM

Kurtis Hord

7 year apprentice, then 10 journey, then you cam apply for master

I’m 3 years I’m on true journeyman existence

I do the work at cost: with a no-obligation offer to realize 3 percent of equity in the structure after 30 years of service for the roofs I build

I get paid In 30 years haha

If they are happy with it

I provide one on one training as well

Sep 1 at 6:00 PM

Raymond Edward

There must be some kind of pay out in the end

Or why else do it

Sep 1 at 6:00 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

Well I’m single no kids, family dis-owned me for being autistic and transsexual and talking about it publicly (they’ve been in denial for a long time)

Sep 1 at 6:01 PM

Kurtis Hord

I’m not really looking for a pay out, I’ll let god handle that

If it happens so be it, if my work and boom catches on that’s what I really care about

Is informing people and changing the standards here in the us

I’m like a preacher but for better longer lasting buildings and the trades out great grandparents used to “know”

Self sufficiency, DIY ethic

Sorely needed In my generation

Kurtis Hord

I saw both sides

We had a rotary phone, and I grew up meeting all my friends on AOL first before meeting them in person

I do miss making plans… people just text on the fly now…

Sep 1 at 6:05 PM

Kurtis Hord

I miss the days of calling a land line: setting up a time and place etc etc

People had to work a lot harder to socialize in the past

Sep 1 at 6:06 PM

Raymond Edward

Cell phones are the devil lol

Sep 1 at 6:06 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

Na its a good thing

But we have to train ourselves to use them well

I literally wouldn’t exist without it, and social media that’s where I make all my connections to travel, work, friends I see in person, etc. it all starts with the typed word

Sep 1 at 6:08 PM

Raymond Edward

Its a overload of info thats fosho but we as people have a hard time disconnecting from the screen long enough to injoy the world around us

Sep 1 at 6:13 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

Yeah I try not to let that happen. It’s a journaling tool and networking device for me

Always smelling the roses for myself

Im an artist i have been all mylife but im not going anywhere with it and its time for me to move on . i been roofing for a about 6years but it isnt intill now that i learn about metal and the trade

Sep 1 at 6:16 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

Yeah this is like the highest form of roofing you can do… really opens up your “purchasing power”. For those in an area with high end building, you CAN do very well for yourself

If you switch to all slate/copper and euro specs

But it takes a few years to master to the point where you are profiting

Just like if you were a new chef out of school and opened restaurant

Sep 1 at 6:19 PM

Raymond Edward

Im 33 i hope i still have time

Sep 1 at 6:19 PMSent from Messenger

Kurtis Hord

You might know how to cook but it’s the day to day efficiency that is learned thru apprentice

Oh dude you got all the time in the world

And people will still pay for hand banged asphalt when they can’t afford copper or the good side of town isn’t calling

Sep 1 at 6:20 PM

Raymond Edward

Roofing going be around for a while

But copper is where its at

And that dates back a long ass time

Sep 1 at 6:50 PMSent from Messenger
